Sinulog Festival 2007 tomorrow

The famous Sinulog festival in Cebu City is held every year on the third Sunday of January. The festival is characterized by a very long parade with many groups of persons dressed in colourful costumes, finding their way through the streets while dancing the Sinulog.
Before, Sinulog festival was purely a religious ritual. The sinulog was performed usually by aging women who hold a candle in each upstretched hand within the confines of the Santo Niño church, and do alternating forward and backward dance steps with the feet.

While performing the sinulog, the dancer mumbles prayers of petition, punctuated by shouts of "Pit Senyor!" every now and then. Keeping it elevated as she performs the dance, to endow it with the blessings of the child Jesus.

Tomorrow, Sinulog festival will start early dawn. People from different parts of Philippines will go to Cebu just to view the exciting grand parade of Sinulog Festival, this festival you must not miss.Don't just wait there and see, come with us here in Cebu and view the beauty of the country Philippines. While dancing, people are shouting petitions and thanksgivings to the Santo Niño. Shouting is necessary because the pilgrims have to be sure that they will be heard by the Santo Niño.

“Pit Señor! Señor Santo Niño, Manoy Kiloy...."
